3. Naam Kya Rakha? | Sohail Javed

Nothing less than any other Hollywood romcoms out there, Naam Kya Rakha? is more relevant to Pakistan’s culture. Although it is a tear-jerker, so stay wary of the waterworks. This short discusses desi culture’s redundant norms around marriage and how it might’ve affected the two people involved. It’s soft, sweet, and goes with the flow. 4. Canvas | Frank E. Abney III

About loving and losing, this animated short shows a grieving grandfather, who after facing a devastating loss, loses his creative spark, and only regains it back with the help of his young granddaughter. This 9-minute short film was 6 years in the making and is one of the three unique animated short films premiered on Netflix.

5. If Anything Happens, I Love You | Will McCormack, Michael Govier

Gaining global recognition, this animated short film shows two parents dealing with the loss of their daughter. The silent film uses amazing visuals to represent the characters’ emotions. This film is heart-wrenching as it highlights America’s widely prevalent and pressing issue of school shootings.
