All the Marvel movies and shows you should be looking forward to in 2021

The Marvel Cinematic Universe gives us something special each year, but this year’s releases are going to be even more interesting, especially after the long break since the events of Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home; released before the pandemic. Fans are excited as this year begins MCU’s Phase Four, after the Infinity Saga (i.e. Phase Three) concluded in 2019. Though the movies and shows are releasing a year later than planned, we are even more excited after the trio of MCU shows which were released in the first half of 2020. Starting off the blog with these shows, check out the rest of the Marvel movies and shows you should be looking forward to in 2021:

*Spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched MCU’s previous releases*

Marvel Phase Four

1. WandaVision (January 2021)

After Vision’s death in Avengers: Infinity War, Paul Bettany revived his role in WandaVision alongside Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. The show kick-started in a really strange style, each episode taking inspiration from different sitcom eras, as shown in the trailer. I won’t be mentioning any spoilers, but just the fact that the show has turned into a fan favorite should tell you how good it was. Watch it to find out how the series fits into the MCU!

2. Falcon and the Winter Soldier (March 2021)

This Disney+ series sees Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie reprising their roles as the Winter Soldier and Falcon. The duo teams up in the series and deals with new enemies, and let’s just say it’s another awesome start to Phase IV of MCU.

3. Loki (June 2021)

Who doesn’t love Tom Hiddleston as Loki? This series was long-waited for by fans, as we didn’t know what Loki was up to after the events of Avengers: Endgame, or whether he was alive in the first place. It was refreshing to see him back in all his glory. The series ended this week, but without spoiling anything for you, let’s just say the series was true to Loki’s personality, i.e. complicated and mischievous.

4. Black Widow (7 July 2021)

Scarlett Johanson reprises her role as Black Widow in her long-time-coming standalone film. After her unfortunate demise in Avengers: Infinity War, the movie feels like a bittersweet throwback to what could’ve been if Natasha Romanoff were still alive in the MCU.

5. What If…?  (11 August 2021)

One of the most unique and interesting Phase Four releases is an animated anthology series, Marvel’s What If…? explores different versions of MCU’s most iconic moments. What if Peggy Carter had taken the Super Soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers? This storyline is the heart of the animated series, and other such confirmed storylines include “What if T’challa was taken by Yondu?” and “What if Loki wielded Mjölnir?”. The series also features Chadwick Boseman as T’challa, as this was his last voice work for the iconic and beloved character before passing away.

6. Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings (3 September 2021)

Releasing on the 3rd of September in cinemas, the movie features beloved Simu Liu (Kim’s Convenience) as Shang-Chi, the Master of Kung Fu. This movie is the first-ever Asian-led MCU movie and thus fans are really excited to see how it goes.

7. Eternals (5 November 2021)

The third Phase 4 movie, Eternals, will release two months after Shang-Chi. The movie has a diverse and interesting cast, including Richard Madden as Ikaris, Angelina Jolie as Thena, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Kit Harrington as the Black Knight, Salma Hayek, Don Lee, etc. The movie revolves around some of the most powerful superheroes of the Marvel Universe, as, according to Kevin Feige, “It will be a story that will introduce you to this incredibly eclectic group of immortals, they’re the focus of the story.”

8. Spider-man: No Way Home (17 December 2021)

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third standalone movie of the franchise, starring Tom Holland. There is no plot yet to discuss, but rumors say the movie will also feature our favorite previous Spidermen, i.e. Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Benedict Cumberbatch will also be appearing in the movie as Doctor Strange. Is he Spider-man’s new mentor after Tony Stark? We can’t wait to find out!

After the end of the Infinity Saga, it felt as though the MCU won’t stay the same anymore. But these movies and shows sound too fun to believe that anymore. What are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments!
