Demon Slayer Season 2: The Mugen Train Arc and More…

After the success of the first season and the worldwide record-breaking release of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train – The Movie last year, fans have been waiting eagerly for some news on when the popular anime’s second season will air. In the last few months, Demon Slayer fans have been given promo after promo of indications that the show is going to air in the fall of 2021.

Now, finally, after months of waiting, we do have a season 2 with the first episode that got aired on the 10th of October and then released on streaming sites later that day. And although Netflix was late to the action when the show was first released in 2019, and still doesn’t have the movie on its platform, the second season of the show is now expected to release on Netflix on a weekly basis with the first episode already out. Let’s have a look at what’s in store for us in season 2, with a little teaser we got from Demon Slayer in the following video:

After the Mugen Train Arc got wrapped up in the movie, questions arose from fans and critics alike on how Ufotable will continue in season 2 without spoiling the story of the movie for those who are yet to catch up on it. Because if you’re aware of the story, you’d know how much partnering up with the fire hashira Rengoku ends up affecting our protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado, and his companions as they go forward on their quest to fight demons; not-to-mention the huge spoiler that everyone would have to come to terms with eventually.

But in season 2, the fans are in for a treat as the show begins with the Mugen Train Arc, this time from Rengoku’s perspective instead of Tanjiro’s. And all of it eventually leading up to connecting both the POVs as they, alongside Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Nezuko, team up to find out and fight whatever’s haunting Mugen train.

In short, the entire movie will get wrapped up in 7 episodes, with 70 new scenes, new music tracks, episode previews, new theme songs, and new opening and ending credits. It’s going to be a “brand-new look” at Kyojuro Rengoku’s journey as he leaves the Demon Slayer headquarters and goes on-board the Infinity Train, eventually ending up connecting with Tanjiro’s story and the Entertainment District Arc.

As for the Entertainment District Arc: it’s supposed to start airing from the 5th of December 2021. If you’ve read the manga, or even just seen the promos for the show, you’d know that we’re supposed to meet the sound hashira, Uzui Tengen, in the arc as he brings Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu (and Nezuko) with him to Yoshiwara to fight the main antagonist of the arc, Daki.

This part again will have new themes, a bunch of new characters, a more detailed look at the flamboyant, Uzui, and new opening and ending credits i.e. “Zankyosanka” and “Asa ga kuru” – by Aimer.

So that’s all we know so far about season 2 of Demon Slayer. If you haven’t read the manga yet, you’re in for some adventurous future arcs and revelations about Tanjiro and Nezuko. We just have to wait and see when they’re going to get animated and then released. With Season 2 taking at least 2 years to air after the first season and a movie in-between, we’re eagerly awaiting what more Ufotable has in plans for the trending anime. I, personally, would love to watch the Infinity Fortress Arc getting a movie because of its action-packed plot and characters. For now, enjoy the second season and share your opinions on the new season and everything you think will follow in the future.
