Top 5 Mini Shows To Watch During Eid Holidays

Eid has been fun as long as I have known the concept of the festival. But just like last year, this year we have to be careful yet again due to the pandemic, and be wary of any activities that might include public gatherings and little to no social distancing. So what else can one do to make staying in during these upcoming holidays a little more bearable? We have a few fixes for you. Check out my list of favorite and best mini-series which you can watch (and feel accomplished over) during your Eid holidays. Honestly, I truly vouch for this list, so do give these a watch!

1. Maniac

A Netflix original miniseries, Maniac aired on the streaming service in 2018. The series has a 80s cool old-school sci-fi vibe, the perfect soundtrack, and an even more amazing cast starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. Stone and Hill play the characters of Annie and Owen, strangers who sign up for a pharmaceutical trial, but aren’t ready for what comes next. This 10 episode miniseries is seriously worth the watch!

2. Big Little Lies

Aired in 2017 on HBO, Big Little Lies has it all! Originally the show was a miniseries but was then renewed for a second season, which premiered in 2019. Starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Zoe Kravitz, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and also Meryl Streep in the second season, you already know the cast is amazing! It is a pretty great watch and will absolutely blow your mind.

3. Sharp Objects

Based on a Gillian Flynn novel by the same name, Sharp Objects is also an HBO miniseries. Check out this 8 episode miniseries if you’re looking for something smart and suspenseful, and definitely if you love Amy Adams (seriously, who doesn’t love Amy Adams?!). Watch her play the character of Camille, who tries to deal with her mental health issues and her family as she goes back to her hometown to investigate murders of two young girls.

4. The Night Of

The Night Of stars Riz Ahmed, and honestly that should be enough to get you to watch the miniseries. Aired on HBO in 2016, with 8 episodes, The Night Of follows a Pakistani-American college student who tries to figure out whether he’s guilty or not for a murder that he finds himself behind bars for. This is definitely worth the watch if you’re looking for something dark and gritty.

5. Made in Heaven

I think it is fair to end this list with something colorful and a little desi for your Eid holidays. Made in Heaven is a fan favorite. It follows two wedding planners as they try to navigate their own respective complex personal relationships as well as the future of their wedding planning agency. Watch Tara (Sobhita Dhulipala) and Karan (Arjun Mathur) plan amazing big, fat Indian weddings for (super) moneyed folks. The Amazon Prime original miniseries is also a commentary on stereotypical desi hypocrisies, so it’s definitely something to add to your list.

So this was my list of miniseries I definitely recommend for you to watch as you’re social distancing during the Eid holidays. Sounds interesting? Well, we’ve got more lists for you.
