Celebrities Who Have Been A Positive Influence During Quarantine

Since Covid-19 began, a lot of people, including celebrities, have reacted to the lockdown period in a lot of different ways. Some hosted daily live Q&A sessions, some sent different motivational messages and when it came to music, live virtual concerts became common. But some stood out from the rest in an attempt to spread positivity either through their message or their donation campaigns. Keeping that in mind, here’s your list of celebrities who have been a positive influence during the quarantine that we all learned something or another from.

John Krasinski

A few weeks after the pandemic hit and everyone was stuck at home in lockdown, Krasinskiseriously started his breaking news series, primarily on Snapchat and YouTube called Some Good News, where he would read out good things that were happening across the globe and reach out to people right from his living room! He hosted a series of different episodes where he aimed to share positivity and hope. The idea was to give people a look into how, even in the middle of a pandemic, people aren’t giving up and keep doing things to make a positive impact in others’ lives.

The actor went from hosting virtual high-school proms to hosting celebrities from his former show The Office, taking interviews and discussing the show’s funniest to most memorable moments. It wasn’t just a source of sharing some good news but also a form of a reunion for all of us die-hard The Office fans and we loved every bit of it!

Sarwat Gilani

Our very own actress and now a leader of the ‘Churrail’ clan, Sarwat Gillani has been a constant on my Instagram timeline ever since the quarantine period began. The actress shared almost daily videos of her and her kids involved in DIY art projects at their home. This motivated mothers across Pakistan to get their kids involved in similar projects of their own. From making origamis to painting pots to making cards during Eid to making several different cut-out projects, the actress and her children’s lives were a delight to watch during the eerie lockdown period.

Perhaps the highlight of the entire time was when Gilani spotted a lizard beneath one of her plant pots and screamed in terror the way any of us would in such a situation. It was a personalized, human moment that no one gets to see celebrities on the big screen. This quarantine may have shown us the harsh realities of some people, but it also gave us a look into the relatably human side of others, like Sarwat Gillani herself.

Jake Johnson

The New Girl actor voiced one of the Spidermen in the movie Into the Spiderverse and ever since the lockdown began, parents have been talking about how their kids have been watching the movie as a way to pass time. Johnson decided to get involved by reaching out to his young fans. He encouraged parents that if their kids are interested in getting a motivational quote from Peter B Peter, they should provide the kid’s name through an email and he would try sending a voice note.

Schitt’s Creek Cast

The cast of the popular Canadian tv show Schitt’s Creek went live on Instagram every day in an attempt to raise money for Feeding America and Food Bank America since the foundations suffered huge losses in the wake of the pandemic.

Lizzo

Popstar Lizzo has always served as a voice to promote empowerment and body positivity. The singer uploaded 30-minute meditation videos on her IGTV to help people calm down and promote healing. She has also asked fans to maintain SOPs and do everything possible to reach out and help those in need.

Emilia Clarke

The Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke hosted virtual dinners with fans in exchange for getting donations for SameYou; the actress’s charity that helps those recovering from strokes and brain injuries. The objective was to use the donated money to free up hospital beds by supporting discharged brain injury and stroke patients at home and use the freed beds for coronavirus patients. Clarke shared that the money would help let brain injury patients get the therapy and comfort they need while frontline workers i.e. doctors and nurses, would be given the time to focus on coronavirus patients. As for the people who donate the money, 12 would be selected to have a virtual dinner with Clarke.

Josh Gad

Frozen actor Josh Gad has been a children’s favorite ever since he voiced Olaf in the popular movie series, even if the kids don’t actively know it yet. And this popularity is what he took to the next level when he started a series of reading a children’s book every night depending on the kids’ or parents’ preferences. His objective was to provide at least 10 minutes of his day to his audience so that they don’t feel alone at a time as seriously as the pandemic.

Positive Influence During Quarantine

Matt Lucas, Damian Lewis, and Helen McCrory

The three stars have teamed with the fast-food chain, LEON, to help deliver healthy and nourishing meals to frontline workers during the Covid-19 crisis. The restaurant has always emphasized delivering good food in a healthy form and now with this initiative, their goal is to deliver 5,600 tasty meals to major hospitals around London to people working in the critical care department in association with FeedNHS. The actors have ever introduced campaigns to raise money which would be donated to FeedNHS.

Whether it was in the form of raising awareness, or if it was about spreading positive news, or even when it came down to teaching productive ways to spend time with kids to raise their spirits, there’s no doubt these and other influencers made a positive impact in the audience’s lives. This is the kind of behavior we need from those who have huge masses following their everyday lifestyle, not just to teach but also to motivate people to not be fearful of the current situation rather focus on life’s positivities and opportunities while also keeping yourself and others safe. If you think of any other influencers or celebrities who proved to be a positive impact on you, or you have been the one to inspire and help others, leave a comment about your experience!
