7 Times Moira Rose Was A Great Mentor For Everyone
Schitt’s Creek’s Moira Rose, matriarch and actor, played by Catherin O’Hara, is a diva first and an inspiration later. Behind her smart wit and amazing vocabulary lie lessons that we all should learn and practice in life. Here are seven times when Moira Rose inspired the characters on Schitt’s Creek and then the audience as well.
1. Helping Jocelyn with her “fundraiser”
Even though it wasn’t really a fundraiser and was actually Moira’s surprise birthday party, when she hears that Jocelyn is stuck with the planning, she quickly takes over the party planning in order to get the perfect results.
2. Taking a huge risk by flying to Bosnia
In order to revive her presence under the spotlight, Moira takes a huge risk and flies to Bosnia to film “The Crows Have Eyes III: The Crowning”. After talking to Blaire (the director of the film) she felt as though the movie might not be a success after all, but she didn’t give up and was more hopeful than ever that her taking such a risk is worth something, which it then turned out to be.
3. Forming bonds with the Jazzagals
Moira Rose, a previous day-time television actor, felt extremely hopeless when she ended up in a town where she saw no future for her and her family. So her bond with the Jazzagals was quite a surprise to her as well. Even though she sang on Broadway, this bond then became pretty special to her, even if it was just a small acapella group in an even smaller town.
4. Passing the torch by directing Cabaret
Moira was not ready to let go of the role of Liesl Von Trapp, but she did, and gracefully so. Seeing her mentor Stevie was one of the most wholesome moments of the show, even if it took her some time to get used to the situation.
5. Helping Jocelyn out by being straightforward
When Jocelyn feels like the Jazzagals haven’t been honest with her and feels left out when they have the audition without her, she has quite a meltdown and leaves the hall immediately. Moira then tells Jocelyn how she needs to be more honest and authentic for the people around her to know what she wants.
6. Cheerleading everyone around her
Let’s be honest, even when Moira is too self-absorbed to know what’s happening around her, she’s always there to cheer everyone to get what they want, like when she says to Twyla: “One must champion oneself and say, ‘I am ready for this!’”
7. Always supporting and believing in Johnny
Even if they were stuck in a random unknown town, Moira never left Johnny’s side and always knew he’d come up with some plan or the other to get the family out of there. Her endless support only makes the show more uplifting.
