Typography 101: Things To Lookout For

We know typography as the art of arranging characters, numbers, and text in a readable layout. But in reality, typography is much more than that, and text is only one part of it.

Typography is a powerful tool to attract more people towards the text. It helps in fortifying a product through the exciting representation of fonts and displays. It also includes potentially attractive fonts, which act as the backbone of the text.

But aside from fonts, there are multiple other factors that also help in creating good typography, the details of which you can find below…

1) Understanding Fonts:

As a typographer, one should know the science behind the usage of fonts. The readers would easily conclude the subject of the matter by observing the fonts. However, the selection of fonts has a direct relationship with the theme of the text.

For example, if you are writing content based on science and technology, then you should use fonts that are clear and concise, so it is understandable to all readers, on the contrary, if you want to attract people, then you should use an attractive series of fonts.

2) Hierarchical Understanding:

Typographists should consider the hierarchical models of content, the hierarchical model means the text-based designing and aligning of content from the start. We can observe it on different websites that the headings, the main paragraphs, and ending notes would have a unique representation of styles, fonts, and gestures.

So as being a content developer, one should keep in mind that it must follow the hierarchical models so it can be an addition to the quality of the content and the typographic experience.

3) Don’t Be Too Much Creative:

“Too Many ingredients, Spoils the Cook” is a famous proverb that completely suits the situation. As being a typographer, one should always use a perpetual, slim, and simple design so it can be easily understandable to others.
Using a lot of creativity and design can make things difficult to figure out and understand. Most of the people new to typographic art would normally consider going for the dark color fonts and high contrast designs, which make the content unreadable and less attractive.
